30.07.2019 – Boris™ again
The new Prime Minister of the UK is currently touring, taking his brand to the distant reaches of his realm. He is photographed wearing various strange outfits and doing strange things such as shearing a sheep.
As he passes he is loudly promising billions of pounds for infrastructure projects, albeit avoiding any mention of boring stuff such a feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses and where the money is coming from.
You don't think there may be a General Election just round the corner, do you?
28.07.2019 – Remainers still at the controls
Just in case the Brexit Leavers in the UK were getting their hopes up at the ascent to power of the new Wunderkind Boris™ Johnson, John Redwood MP, himself a Leaver and a Boris supporter, has a timely reminder for those with short memories:
There has been much misleading comment masquerading as analysis about the nature of the new Cabinet.
There are just two members who voted against the Withdrawal Agreement on all three occasions it came forward, and three who voted against it on two of the three occasions.
There are fourteen who voted Remain plus the Chief Whip.
The big majority of the Cabinet supported Mrs May’s Withdrawal Agreement, and some were particularly vocal in urging others to do so.
John Redwood, 'The composition of the new Cabinet'.
21.07.2019 – On the moon
This six second video appeared on reddit nearly a year ago. That flag was the clue all along.
01.07.2019 – Carl Gustaf saves the planet
So happy to see Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden and climate change Charlie, enjoying a quiet picnic on the Danish island of Farø last Monday with…
… a high-tech coolbox, water in plastic bottles, plastic food containers and…
… a teeny weeny Ferrari, not to mention the Danish registered Maserati to transport the unidentified friends and the snacks.
Charlie, Charlie… what will little Greta say when you give her the Nobel Peace Prize this year?
