More Site changes

The migration to the new server that has made this website foreseable-future-safe also provided the impetus to reinstate the comments system.
The user experience has been improved, in that it is now only necessary to fill in a captcha field for the first comment in a session. All subsequent comments anywhere on the website can be sent directly, without a captcha, even if the username is changed.
You are paying attention, aren't you?
All the comments posted before 2021, when the system was switched off, have been saved and will be restored in the near future. Differences between the character sets of the old and the new server mean that the previous comments require a little TLC before they can be restored.
At the top of the index page for the current year there is now a list of the five most recent comments. This may very well turn out to be a useless fol-de-rol, but here in the mountains, in the long winter nights, we have to take each harmless folly, in this case messing around with a website, as it comes.
Comments policy
The comments policy has not changed. This website is a free speech absolutist, as long as it doesn't lead to fines or imprisonment. Comments are posted immediately and not filtered through moderation. No AI-bot is reading the comments for keywords, so commenters do not need to mask certain words. But this is above all a family-friendly website, so no vulgarity, please – stay classy. Nasty material will be removed without further ado.
Angry, intemperate people should remember that the great eighteenth virtue was Gelassenheit 'relaxed calm', important at a time of invasive censorship, then as now, when people had to exercise the essential skill of writing and reading between the lines.
